Lima may be the political capital of Peru, but it seems clear to me that Cuzco is the spiritual center of Peru to the descendents of the Inca, that once ruled here. The central square, indicating the importance of this city to the Spaniards, is edged by two major churches. The Inca on top of the fountain is pointing to the mountain where the last stand of the Inca took place. |
